Capability 04
We take your project through feasibility, structuring and funding readiness.
Applied America runs these three steps, to the America 275 standards, on the initiatives it develops itself. On your project the steps are the same and every decision stays yours: we tell you which step holds it up, or that it is not yet defined enough to begin.

Whose project it is
The analysis is ours. The decision is the sponsor’s.
On a platform Applied America develops itself, analysis and decision sit in one institution: a project is developed toward the standard rather than passed through it, and holds at a stage until the bar is met. On a sponsor’s project only the analysis is ours, and the sponsor decides.
That is the more useful arrangement for the sponsor: with no decision of our own to defend, our finding is easier to trust. Where Applied America commits capital alongside a sponsor, as set out for sponsors and developers, that commitment is disclosed in writing before an introduction is made.
The chain is three of the ten development steps, from two of the five stages: feasibility and structuring in Develop, and funding readiness in Prepare. It leaves out step six, partnership development, because assembling counterparties is a separate capability here. Capital strategy, step eight, is what follows a project that is ready. Implementation and delivery sit further out again.
The difference that governs everything else
Same steps. A different decision-maker.
Our own platform: Applied America.
A sponsor’s project: The sponsor.
Our own platform: The decision and the standard.
A sponsor’s project: The standard only.
Our own platform: It does not advance.
A sponsor’s project: We say so, plainly. The sponsor decides.
Our own platform: A platform we carry.
A sponsor’s project: A project that stands up to scrutiny.
The sequence does not change with ownership. What changes is who is accountable at the end of it.
What the chain does
Three steps, and what each one settles.
Each step has a full page of its own.
Feasibility
Demand, buildability, economics, site and readiness to advance, each tested before capital is committed.
Structuring
Scope, governance, risk allocation, milestones and the delivery pathway. Where a sponsor has settled some already, the work is reconciling it with what financiers accept.
Funding readiness
Documentation, capital requirements, financial assumptions and institutional fit, brought to the standard capital providers expect. The gap is rarely merit; it is preparation.
Common questions
What is fixed is the standard, not the schedule.
Those pages are written from inside the platform’s own initiatives, so they describe a method. This page is the same three steps on someone else’s project, so it describes a relationship.
Defined: the six things the definition step settles, which are need and purpose, place, sponsor, beneficiaries, market case and outcomes. A sponsor can be a company, agency, tribe, municipality, university or regional body.
It goes back to the sponsor with the finding and what would have to change. On an initiative Applied America develops itself, the project would hold at that step until the bar was met; where the project is the sponsor’s, there is nothing to hold.
Applied America coordinates them, drawing on the appropriate technical, market and economic specialists, and holds the results to a consistent readiness standard.
Because assembling counterparties is a separate capability in this section, not a step in this one. Structuring settles the architecture; the public, private, financial, technical and community participants it calls for are assembled after that.
On its own initiatives, yes: Applied America develops them and commits the capital behind them. A sponsor’s project stays the sponsor’s, and Applied America takes no ownership interest in it; any capital it commits alongside is disclosed in writing before an introduction is made. Which relationship applies is settled explicitly, not inferred.
No. Each capital provider decides after its own diligence, and the project stays yours throughout. Applied America does not place securities, and nothing here is an offer or investment advice.
The five America 275 expectations: public value, feasibility, readiness, partnership and measurable outcomes. All the platform’s work is held to the same five, flagship initiatives included, and visibility does not exempt them. These three steps test two of them, feasibility and readiness; public value and measurable outcomes are settled at definition, and partnership at partnership development.
It varies with scale and sector. What is fixed is the standard, not the schedule.
Yes. Your details are used only to respond, and no offer or solicitation is made or implied. Where there is a fit, the conversation moves to a confidential working session and, where appropriate, a non-disclosure agreement and a data room.
Bring a project that already exists.
Send it as defined — the need, the place, the sponsor, the outcomes. We will say which of the three steps it is held up at, or that it is not yet defined enough to enter them.
